We are looking for an individual with a solid understanding of Financial Protection Investigations and exceptional communication abilities to join our Client Services team as a Financial Protection Specialist.
The Financial Protection Specialist is responsible for investigating and gathering information regarding financial abuse affecting individuals with care and support needs. This information is crucial in fulfilling Norfolk County Council's obligations under S44 of The Care Act 2014 (Safeguarding) and is shared with both internal Social Services and relevant external organizations.
This role is diverse and engaging, involving the following key responsibilities:
- Gathering financial data held by Norfolk County Council when concerns of potential financial abuse are raised by Financial Services or Social Services.
- Conducting both in-person and remote inquiries with individuals managing the finances of those in care and support.
- Visiting individuals with care and support needs to investigate financial concerns and assess their mental capacity in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Preparing detailed reports of the inquiries conducted for sharing with both internal and external parties.
- Providing expert guidance and support to Social Care staff regarding their Financial Protection inquiries.
- Delivering training on financial abuse prevention both internally and externally.
You will receive comprehensive training and support to excel in this role; however, to be successful in your application, you should demonstrate:
- Knowledge of financial protection investigations.
- Strong communication skills, both in-person and remotely, with excellent customer service capabilities for a diverse range of individuals.
- Exceptional organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and work independently, including decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in delivering training and providing clear, constructive advice to both professionals and clients.
