Acorn by Synergie is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to join their client, a leading manufacturing company based in the North West of England.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for championing health and safety initiatives in the workplace, ensuring the implementation of corporate health and safety strategy at site level, and maintaining legal compliance and company standards.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Management of Health and Safety Systems: Develop, implement, and communicate management systems to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations into accidents and incidents, and contribute to root cause analysis to identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Training and Development: Organize and deliver health and safety training programs for site personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles safely.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Develop, implement, and manage regulations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards.
  • Process Hazard Assessments: Assist the Process Safety Team in conducting process hazard assessments, including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and HFA, as required under COMAH regulations.
  • Site Safety Protocols: Manage site safety protocols for visitors and contractors, ensuring access is gained via suitable procedures and inductions.
  • COSHH Assessment: Manage site COSHH assessment processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a similar health and safety role, ideally in a chemical manufacturing background.
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (preferred).
  • Thorough knowledge of H&S laws, regulations, practice, and standards.
  • Experience of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001, and internal auditing.
