Job Overview

As a key member of the SGS Legal Team, you will play a vital role in providing expert legal support and guidance to our business operations. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the provision of first-line legal advice, support, and training to all internal departments and functions.

Key to your success will be your ability to interpret and apply relevant laws and regulations to ensure that our business goals are achieved while minimizing risk exposure. You will work closely with our legal team to review and negotiate contracts, manage litigation matters, and oversee property management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the review and negotiation of commercial contracts
  • Support the management of litigation matters affecting the Company
  • Coordinate improvements to systems and procedures needed as a result of successful claims
  • Assist with acquisitions and disposals
  • Provide Company Secretarial services to the Company and its UK affiliates
  • Support employment law issues affecting the Company
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills base of our workforce in relation to legislation and new regulations

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of commercial law, either in-house or within private practice
  • Professional legal qualifications, either attained or in progress
  • Experience in negotiating commercial contracts
  • Ability to work independently and with a degree of autonomy
  • Ability to assert influence and expertise when appropriate
  • Commitment to continuous personal and professional development
  • Effective interpersonal skills

The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, managing litigation, and commercial property, as well as an understanding of intellectual property rights and data protection.
