As a leader in the renewable energy sector, our client is seeking a Sustainability Project Manager to contribute significantly to the development of solar and battery storage initiatives, guiding projects from the initial planning phase through to construction and eventual transition to operational teams.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that sustainability and environmental management principles are integrated throughout the entire project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:


Overseeing all environmental obligations for substantial onshore solar and battery construction initiatives, while advancing our sustainability objectives and action plans, including the implementation of Biodiversity Net Gain Plans during the construction phase.

Evaluating Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Reports (ER), preparing and managing Construction Environmental Management Plans, and supporting project Sustainability Action Plans while ensuring compliance with relevant environmental planning conditions.

Coordinating environmental assessments and monitoring activities, including defining scopes of work related to environmental contracts and contractors, contributing to the tendering process, ensuring safe work practices, and reviewing contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and reports.

Conducting regular environmental audits and inspections on-site and compiling audit reports throughout the construction process.
Identifying environmental risks and incidents, implementing preventive measures, resolving issues, and disseminating lessons learned.

Qualifications:
Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom
Based in the Southeast region and open to travel to project sites as required
Proven experience in environmental management for large-scale construction projects, with a comprehensive understanding of environmental legislation and policies.
Membership in a relevant professional organization (e.g., IEMA or CIEEM).
Strong commercial awareness and a solid grasp of project development and construction dynamics, including contractor oversight.
Experience in conducting environmental audits and inspections within a construction context.

A commitment to teamwork, fostering collaboration, and promoting inclusive work practices, alongside a solid understanding of sustainability principles.
