Job Overview

Position: Principal Engineer – Product Safety Engineering

Location: Various locations with flexible working options available

Compensation: Approximately £55,000

Role Responsibilities:

In the capacity of Principal Engineer – Product Safety Engineering, you will engage in the Dreadnought programme, focusing on intricate systems within the Submarine domain. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee safety analysis and evaluation activities, ensuring compliance with established processes. You will provide insightful feedback and constructive criticism to address any identified issues. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in educating various departments to guarantee adherence to safety policies.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Industrial Control Systems
  • TUV Functional Safety Certification
  • Experience with both software and hardware systems
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 or IEC 61511 standards

Desirable:

  • Comprehensive understanding of Cyber Safety
  • Knowledge of Defence Standards
  • Prior experience in the Defence Sector
  • Experience in Submarine Engineering

About the Product Safety Team:

As a member of the Product Safety Team, you will support the Delivery and Governance Processes, aiding in the transition to the next critical phase of the project to ensure product safety is primed for the build stage. You will encounter new technologies during the build process while adapting existing technologies to meet current requirements. Relocation support packages are available for eligible candidates across all Submarine roles.
