We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Open Spaces Manager to join our Green Spaces team at Eastleigh Borough Council. As a key member of our Neighbourhoods and Green Spaces department, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of all public open spaces, providing leadership to all staff within the service and ensuring our customers receive an efficient and good-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all public open spaces, including parks, gardens, and other green spaces
  • Provide leadership to all staff within the service, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
  • Develop and implement strategies for public open spaces, including budget planning and resource allocation
  • Conduct site visits with residents and Councillors to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Liaise with housing developers regarding inspections and the adoption of newly landscaped open spaces

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, such as horticulture, landscape management, or landscape conservation
  • Extensive experience in managing green spaces and landscapes, including practical knowledge of horticultural and landscaping techniques
  • Experience in budget and project management, including monitoring expenditures and maximising opportunities to increase income
  • Exceptional communication and management abilities, with the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Ability to inspire and cultivate a positive team culture
