Solent NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Team Manager to oversee community services tailored for children and adolescents with neurodiversity (ND) in the regions of Southampton and Portsmouth.

This is a pivotal moment for children's ND services in both locations as the teams are actively enhancing and refining their offerings. In Portsmouth, you will have the chance to collaborate with a team implementing an innovative ND profiling tool to support children and young individuals. Meanwhile, in Southampton, you will contribute to the strategic redesign of the ND assessment and support framework for the community.

Elements of the ND initiatives in both cities are integrated within specialized Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), where you will engage closely with clinical colleagues and leaders in specialized CAMHS, as well as with community and systemic partners.

The rising national demand for ND assessment and support services is mirrored by local needs, making this an exciting and challenging opportunity to join our teams. Innovation and creativity will be essential as we strive to deliver optimal support for children, young people, and their families.

Key Responsibilities

We are in search of an enthusiastic leader with a background in working with individuals with neurodiversity. This role is ideal for someone looking to innovate and expand services within a supportive framework that encourages collaboration across education, health, and social care.

The successful candidate will collaborate with and support the management team at Solent NHS Trust CAMHS, which includes nurses, social workers, and allied health professionals.

We invite applications from a diverse range of registered professional bodies, including but not limited to the Nursing Midwifery Council, Health Professional's Council, BABCP, ACP, or UKCP. We also welcome inquiries from non-registered professionals who possess equivalent qualifications and experience, particularly in supporting young individuals with neurodiversity and working within NHS teams.

About Our Organization

We are collaborating with other local NHS Trusts to establish a new organization that will unify all community, mental health, and learning disability services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The goal is to form this new Trust by the end of 2024, pending necessary approvals.

Project Fusion is the initiative aimed at creating this combined NHS Foundation Trust. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will consolidate services into a single organization, ensuring more consistent care, equitable access to services regardless of location, and a sustainable workforce. The new organization will operate locally to best meet the diverse needs of various communities.

The new Trust will encompass all services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, as well as community, mental health, and learning disability services from Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Colleagues will transition to the new organization under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations, ensuring the continuity of employment terms and conditions.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Professional registration with a statutory body such as the Nursing Midwifery Council, Health Professional's Council, BABCP, ACP, or UKCP, or possess a relevant MSc or MA qualification or equivalent experience, along with formal or informal leadership and management training.
  • Accreditation at master's level or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience working with children and young people with neurodiversity in community settings.

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in evidence-based service development and change management.
  • Knowledge and experience in child protection and safeguarding procedures, with the ability to recognize and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Capacity to work autonomously.
  • Experience in managing concerns, complaints, and serious incidents.
