Job Description

The Cloud Operations team at Sage is responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and performance of our online products and services. As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will play a critical role in bridging the technical gaps between Development and Operations by deploying, administering, and improving infrastructure and automation using cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Take ownership of your assigned products to ensure they remain available, secure, and performant.
  2. Lead incident response efforts during high-pressure scenarios, balancing technical resolution and stakeholder communication.
  3. Participate in our 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure prompt issue resolution.
  4. Design and implement solutions to simplify customer experience, mitigate risk, and improve usability.
  5. Collaborate with product delivery teams to ensure designs, standards, and quality are implemented to improve customer experience.
  6. Stay up-to-date with new services, technologies, and business processes to gain efficiencies and improve customer experience.
  7. Create, maintain, administer, and enhance infrastructure and automation to support secure and scalable environments.
  8. Communicate with stakeholders on planned changes, incidents, and service improvement plans.
  9. Monitor applications and systems to identify issues proactively and mitigate them to improve customer experience.
  10. Enable continuous deployment cycles and on-demand deployment processes.
  11. Perform code and infrastructure deployments.
  12. Maintain Configuration Management Databases for key services.
  13. Adhere to Sage standards and processes.
  14. Collaborate across team boundaries to achieve common goals.
  15. Manage budgets, identify cost savings, and prioritize them to ensure optimal spend levels.
Requirements
  1. Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences and stakeholders.
  2. Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, and/or MacOS.
  3. Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Scripting knowledge for task automation (PowerShell, Bash, Ruby, Python).
  5. Experience working with multiple teams, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  6. Proficiency in English language, verbal and written, with ability to build relationships and influence.
  7. Proficiency/exposure to SRE activities like Software/System Engineering and Toil reduction.
  8. Experience building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD processes.
  9. Experience with applications deployed in AWS or Azure using distributed computing, containers, Kubernetes, and/or serverless technologies.
  10. 3-5 years of experience in a Sysadmin, DevOps, SRE, IT Operations, Developer, or QA/Application Engineer role in a customer-facing, complex technical environment.
  11. 1-3 years of Cloud Experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.).
  12. Education to degree level in a relevant subject or deep knowledge in the area of expertise.
  13. Preferred to have a Certification in Cloud Technologies.
