VAT Manager Job Description

Brewer Morris is seeking a highly skilled VAT Manager to join our team in the property sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage VAT journals, reconciliations, and assist with the annual audit.
  • Oversee partial exemptions, annual adjustment calculations, construction and development transactions, agency relationships, and domestic reverse charge matters.
  • Provide VAT technical expertise on projects and corporate transactions to ensure optimal VAT recovery.
  • Collaborate with the Tax Team on Risk and Governance efforts, including annual SAO and HMRC Reviews, and managing HMRC inquiries.
  • Stay updated on VAT legislation changes and deliver regular training to Finance and business teams to ensure strong VAT knowledge across the company.
  • Administer VAT matters, including managing registrations, de-registrations, VAT options, payments, VAT cash flow, Capital Goods Scheme assets, and budgets for external advisers.
  • Oversee HMRC accounts and manage additional indirect taxes such as ATED, CIS, and SDLT.

Requirements:

  • CTA, ACA, ACCA or an equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive VAT technical knowledge gained through both experience and formal training.
  • Previous experience with Tax Risk and Governance.
