Position: Senior Technical Systems Administrator (Security Cleared)

Contract Duration: Initial 6-month engagement

People Source Consulting Ltd is collaborating with a prominent public sector organization seeking a proficient Senior Technical Systems Administrator. This role entails delivering expert-level technical guidance and third-line support, ensuring the operational integrity and performance of the organization's essential infrastructure, which encompasses servers, systems, communications, and services. Your technical acumen will be complemented by your ability to lead and coordinate team activities, promoting best practices and consistently meeting service objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Overseeing daily operations of the technical team.
  • Ensuring timely resolution of incidents in line with service level agreements.
  • Acting as a resource for inquiries related to incident and change management processes.
  • Assuming responsibility for Change Management, tracking the lifecycle of Change Requests from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction.

Technical Implementation:

  • Employing diagnostic tools to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues, maintaining service level agreements, and collaborating with users, staff, and suppliers as necessary.
  • Providing third-line technical support to operational and project teams as required.
  • Executing intricate configurations and installations of server, storage, and communication platforms for routine changes or project needs.
  • Recommending and enforcing standards for configurations, tools, and products.

Policy and Standards Compliance:

  • Ensuring adherence to governance protocols, including sign-offs, testing, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Maintaining auditable records of all activities in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Facilitating knowledge sharing and skill transfer within the technical teams and the broader organization.
  • Developing effective procedures to support technical team activities and manage system changes efficiently.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven leadership and staff development experience within a technical support environment.
  • Extensive technical expertise across a range of server, storage, and networking technologies at a third-line support level.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT security best practices, particularly concerning government standards and accreditation processes.
  • Significant experience with Windows Servers, virtualization technologies, and enterprise storage solutions in a large-scale environment.
