We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Water Technologies team in Dalgety Bay. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing analytical estimates and realistic tenders that ensure business sustainability through securing contracts.
Key Responsibilities:- Liaise with clients and their professional representatives to understand project requirements and scope.
- Review tender documents, assessing scope, risk involved, and tender complexity to provide feedback.
- Work collaboratively with the Estimating Team to maximize opportunities for the business.
- Prepare Bill of Quantities and material Take Offs, and price them accordingly.
- Produce enquiry schedules for scope of works and packages required from tender documentation, drawings, and specifications for subcontracted scopes.
- Ascertain the cost implications of projects by working with Project Engineers, Site Managers, and Planners to determine accurate project deliverables and associated timescales.
- Establish output and production rates to accurately determine progress and completion rates, including allowances for risks and unforeseen circumstances.
- Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit, and present a finalized tender price build-up.
- Pricing tenders in accordance with Framework agreed Schedules of Rates and Prices, if required.
- Understand the terms and conditions of contracts and assess the cost for any insurances, warranties, bonds, performance penalties, etc.
- Attend tender price review meetings with the Tender Team, Directors, or Project Teams.
- Provide support and liaison with other disciplines, including Directors, Managers, Planners, Quantity Surveyors, Design Coordinators, Buyers, etc.
- Provide compliant tender deliverables to meet business timescales to realize client return dates, arranging RSE tender review meetings and preparing documentation to meet required timescales.
- Experience in an Estimating position, with any experience in a process-related environment being advantageous but not necessary.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to allow the preparation of relevant documentation.
- Ability to read and understand the sequencing of programs or schedules.
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines and communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and with clients.
- Although predominantly office-based, there is a requirement to attend out of-office meetings and visit client sites.
- IT literacy in all MS applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Full UK driving license.
