Job Opportunity at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our dedicated team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality ophthalmic care to the population of the Morecambe Bay Area.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in general ophthalmology, with experience in a wide range of ophthalmic conditions. You will be able to provide emergency cover to ophthalmic patients and have experience in clinical supervision of juniors and relevant staff in other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality ophthalmic care to patients, including general ophthalmology, medical retina, and corneal services.
  • Contribute to the on-call ophthalmic service on a 1:9 rota, as part of the consultant team in the department.
  • Participate in the delivery of medical education and multi-professional training.
Requirements
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (with license to practice).
  • Certificate of completion in specialist training (CCT) or within 6 months of completion of training at the time of interview.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (or equivalent).
What We Offer
