Fire Alarm Engineer Position
Fortus Recruitment is a leading recruitment agency specializing in placing professionals in the repairs and maintenance industry.
We are currently working with a Local Authority to find a skilled Fire Alarm Engineer to join their team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in installing and maintaining fire alarm systems, as well as a strong understanding of British Standards BS 5839 and BS 5266.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day maintenance and repairs of fire alarm systems
- Respond to emergency callouts and perform remedial works as required
- Conduct site surveys and asset verification
- Install replacement or additional equipment
- Participate in the on-call rota
- Train apprentices in fire alarm system maintenance and installation
- Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems, including emergency lighting systems and access control systems
- Complete engineer service reports and report deficiencies or deviations in systems
- Conduct regular van stock checks and liaise with the Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement Department
- Maintain a health and safety mindset and report any issues promptly
- Complete a first-time fix where possible
Requirements:
- Good understanding of British Standards BS 5839 and BS 5266
- FIA Level or equivalent
- At least 1 year of industry experience
- Attention to detail
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels
- A flexible approach to work with a minimum of 40 hours per week
- A full UK driving license
- Previous fire alarm experience and knowledge of analogue addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
- FIA training (or equivalent required) to BS5839-1 Fundamentals
- A good level of IT literacy
- An understanding of health and safety regulations within the workplace
