Job Title: Lead Research Analyst

Join the Rail Safety and Standards Board as a Lead Research Analyst and contribute to the delivery of high-quality research that drives innovation and improvement in the rail industry.

About the Role

The Lead Research Analyst will provide analytical leadership within the Research directorate, working closely with stakeholders to identify research needs and priorities. The role will involve scoping, procuring, and delivering research projects, as well as disseminating findings and implementing recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the RSSB review and assessment of research requests, engaging with stakeholders and technical experts to develop research specifications and case for research.
  • Ensure the smooth transition and handover to assigned Project Managers, and support the tender review process.
  • Attend and present at steering group meetings, steering research to ensure expected benefits and implementation pathways are reviewed and strengthened.
  • Review draft and final outputs from research projects for quality purposes and to ensure key findings are clearly identified.
Requirements
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor to different audiences.
  • Experience in gathering, structuring, and analysing both qualitative and quantitative intelligence.
  • Experience in structuring research, assessing its expected and delivered benefits, and helping to bridge the gap between completion of research and benefit realisation.
  • Experience of quickly understanding new concepts, including technical or engineering nature.
  • Experience of line management and leading teams.
  • Track record of building good working relationships and influencing multiple stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation.
