In this pivotal role, reporting to the Global Design Manager, the Lead Project Engineer will be chiefly responsible for developing innovative and commercially viable designs for both new and customized products.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new product designs utilizing Solidworks to meet the required objectives and standards for both the organization and the client, enhancing the likelihood of success.
  • Collaborate directly with external clients and contractors, upholding and contributing to the company's professionalism and core values.
  • Ensure the successful transition of the product from concept to production.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, including effective presentation abilities for in-person meetings, phone calls, and video conferences. The Lead Project Engineer is expected to facilitate project group meetings with both internal and external teams.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as necessary for regular joint customer meetings with Sales and Engineering.
  • The role encompasses 10% sales, 30% project management/engineering, and 60% design responsibilities.

Candidate Profile:

  • HND or degree qualified in an engineering discipline, ideally mechanical engineering with a focus on design, though candidates with qualifications in Product Design are also encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in plastic/injection molded product design using 2D and 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks & PDM) is highly advantageous.
  • Competence in designing small mechanisms or similar components.
  • Experience in creating production jigs and fixtures.
  • Knowledge in designing for manufacturability, assembly, and quality, with skills in failure prevention. Familiarity with Ansys FEA and Moldflow is desirable.
  • Proven experience in high levels of customer/client interaction and engagement.

Compensation & Benefits:
* Competitive salary range of £35,000 - £50,000, based on experience.
