Salary: £43,041 - £58,217 per annum
Job DescriptionJob Purpose: To deliver high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical or medical treatment in the Cardiology Unit.
Main Duties:
- Assist the Ward Manager in leading a team of nurses in the delivery of high-quality care.
- Deliver ward/unit and personal objectives.
- Audit care against agreed standards and lead on identified clinical audit projects.
- Identify areas for learning and develop action plans to address them.
- Implement information strategies to inform patients and carers about their investigations and diagnosis.
- Base practice on current best evidence.
- Lead in the evaluation of research findings and implement them into practice if appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage services to meet contract and quality standards.
- Review the standard of care and documentation at regular intervals.
- Promote patient involvement in care.
- Investigate complaints and untoward incidents.
- Contribute to the planning, monitoring, and control of unit resources.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of quality staff.
- Contribute to the development of teams, individuals, and self to enhance performance.
- Monitor staff performance and report progress to the Ward Manager.
Person Specification:
- First-level RN qualification.
- Teaching and assessing qualification.
- Recognized cardiology qualification with strong ECG interpretation skills.
- Moving and handling, basic CPR, IT skills, intravenous drug administration.
- Venepuncture and cannulation skills.
Essential Experience:
- A minimum of 12 months experience at Band 5 in Cardiology with evidence of continued professional development.
Skills:
- Able to initiate and deliver high-quality nursing care.
- Can plan, delegate, and supervise others.
- Able to manage clinical areas effectively.
- Demonstrates ability to initiate the implementation of evidence-based practice.
- Able to lead in clinical audit.
- Able to assist in managing resources within a budget.
- Aware of current NHS issues and priorities.
