Deputy Medical Director for Quality and Governance

The Deputy Medical Director for Quality and Governance will lead a number of Trust-wide strategic priorities and quality improvement programmes as determined by the Chief Medical Officer. They will also take the overall medical leadership role in the Trust in relation to Care Quality, including the three key domains of safety, clinical effectiveness and patient experience.
Main Responsibilities- Support the Chief Medical Officer in all matters related to medical and dental professional standards.
- Provide medical leadership to the Clinical Risk Manager for serious incidents/matters relating to PSIRF and inquests.
- Act as the Named Adult Safeguarding lead for the Trust.
- Deputise for the Chief Medical Officer in their absence, including taking the role of Medical Co-ordinator in the event of a Major Incident.
- Support the Chief Medical Officer with the integration of clinical services and processes across North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.
- Chair committees in relation to their role and represent the CMO/Trust at internal and external meetings as required.
- Full registration and license to practise with the GMC or GDC.
- Be practicing at a Consultant, Specialist or Specialty Doctor level.
- Success in a previous management role (Divisional / Clinical Director, Associate Medical Director, Clinical Lead or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of professional and occupational regulation (GMC Good Medical Practice 2024; MHPS), NHS quality improvement programmes (NHS Impact), and PSIRF/incident investigation.
- A commitment to life-long learning and undertaking personal development opportunities.
- IT skills including use of email and commonly used software.
- Ability to manage and comply with sensitive information under tight timescales with a proportionate approach.
- Proven leadership skills, including networking skills.
- Knowledge of key local and national health policy and clinical governance systems.
- Ability to identify available data sources to support the detection and analysis of concerns and to recognise gaps in available knowledge.
- Ability to identify and disseminate examples of good practice amongst relevant colleagues.
- Demonstrates a commitment to and focus on quality.
- Promotes high standards to consistently improve patient outcomes.
- Uses evidence to make improvements.
