Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organization, is seeking a Senior Health and Safety Manager to fill a critical role in their organization. This is an 8-week contract position, with the possibility of extension, and will be based in Rugby.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and audit local managers' health and safety management, ensuring that issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Create action plans in response to audits and monitor their delivery.
- Investigate incidents and audit incident investigations to maintain an incident record database and produce quarterly and annual reports for management meetings.
- Develop and deliver effective health and safety training to staff, both internally and externally.
- Support the Safety and Resilience Team in developing best practices, such as monitoring behaviors and cultures, while ensuring that the organization can still achieve its goals.
- Work in partnership with the Safety and Resilience Manager to develop business continuity and emergency planning, ensuring the resilience of the organization.
- Provide health, safety, and welfare management information, including quarterly newsletters.
- Support risk assessment work across the organization.
- Respond to employee and trade union health and safety complaints and concerns.
- Administrate the 6-weekly H&S coordinator meetings and support Corporate Property in fire safety measures.
- Liaise with the HSE or other relevant enforcing authorities as necessary.
- Horizon scan for future changes in health and safety legislation and maintain CPD.
- Work towards the NEBOSH Diploma and participate in responding to major emergencies.
- Collaborate on health and safety projects as requested.
- Demonstrate environmental awareness and responsibility.
Essential Skills:
- Extensive experience in health and safety management.
- Ability to influence, champion, and enforce excellence in health, safety, and welfare at work.
- Competent, effective, and efficient health and safety trainer.
- Nebosh Certificate Holder, with a willingness to work towards the NEBOSH Diploma.
- Communication skills to deal with a range of people, including computer literacy.
- A commitment to work within the organization's values.
Desirable Skills:
- Ability to develop and deliver training to staff.
- Interest in developing an understanding of and assisting in emergency planning and business continuity.
- Experience of preparing reports and statistical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Able to inspire commitment, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude in others to achieve objectives.
- Capable of handling a heavy and diverse workload.
