Job Description

Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Type: Permanent

Industry: Scientific Equipment Manufacturing

Premier Group Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's team in a specialist manufacturer of scientific equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and engineering, with experience in precision equipment, fine instruments, or mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new products using CAD software, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, or Creo
  • Work on full lifecycle design projects, from concept to final assembly
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers to ensure efficient production processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive engineering development and innovation
  • Develop and maintain technical drawings, 3D models, and documentation
  • Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs
  • Check drawings for sign off and ensure compliance with industry standards

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar design/mechanical engineering position
  • Excellent proficiency in CAD software and design tools
  • Degree/HNC/HND/BTEC/NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Strong understanding of FEA, ANSYS, stress analysis, and particle fluid simulation
  • Proven ability to drive engineering development and innovation
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
