Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our Driver Operations team at phs Group. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for guiding a team of drivers to achieve their regional goals and service levels. You will serve as a bridge between frontline drivers and depot management, ensuring effective communication and implementation of company strategies and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a small team of drivers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high levels of performance and productivity.
- Implement ongoing training initiatives to keep team members updated on new products, customer requirements, best practices, and company policies.
- Take ownership of the team's area, overseeing day-to-day operations, resolving issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the recruitment of new drivers, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, completing observation days, and onboarding new team members.
- Respond to urgent customer requests as directed by the scheduling team or management team.
- Conduct comprehensive induction training for new team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles.
- Provide feedback on performance, including knowledge, attitude, and skills, to individuals and management.
Requirements:
- Previous training/coaching experience desirable.
- Excellent service delivery and driving skills.
- Able to work effectively with managers, drivers, HR, L&D, and Health and Safety teams.
- Ability to abide by and communicate/demonstrate Health and Safety regulations and COSHH, including always wearing appropriate protective clothing.
- Demonstrates resilience and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Full UK manual driving license for a minimum of 12 months (subject to insurance requirements), with a maximum of 6 points.
- The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of an enhanced DBS check.
- Due to the nature of waste we handle and the customers we service, it is mandatory for drivers to have vaccinations against Hepatitis B, tetanus/polio.
