We are seeking a skilled Fencing Operative to join our Estate Services team in Halifax. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of fences on our properties, ensuring the safety and security of our residents.

As a Fencing Operative, you will work closely with our Estate Services team to deliver high-quality services and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, repair, and maintain fences on our properties, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and clean the work area before and after completing tasks, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Handle and operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently, with a focus on minimizing waste and maximizing productivity.
  • Ensure all operations are compliant with health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and method statements.
  • Carry out fencing repairs, erect new fencing, and support other teams in the service area as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Assist in training a team of trainees for the fencing improvement program, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Help the Supervisor organize work, order materials, and ensure projects are completed on time and maintain quality, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
  • Supervise and train Trainees and Apprentices, ensuring their safety and service standards are met, and providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Follow good health and safety and equal opportunities practices, understanding all Risk Assessments for tasks, and promoting a culture of safety and inclusivity.
  • Work in accordance with company policies and procedures, adhering to our values and standards.
  • Assist in motivating staff, volunteers/placements, trainees, and apprentices to provide high-quality customer service, promoting a positive and supportive team culture.
  • Support various departments as directed, including Mobile Cleaning, Estate Services Team, and Grounds Maintenance, demonstrating a willingness to adapt and contribute to the organization's goals.
Requirements
  • Experience in fencing installation, repair, and maintenance, with a strong understanding of different types of fencing materials and construction techniques.
  • Full UK driving Licence, with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and method statements.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on minimizing waste and maximizing productivity.
