An overview of the role.

Enhance and sustain the Regional Safety Culture while achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Health & Safety, Operational Training, and Compliance across multiple sites.

Why this role is significant.

  • Ensure compliance across all areas and meet monthly KPIs, addressing any discrepancies between safety compliance standards and operational actions.
  • Formulate, execute, and oversee action plans to rectify any identified discrepancies.
  • Guarantee that all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements are comprehended and followed by every team member.
  • Achieve and surpass all safety and compliance benchmarks, fostering continuous improvement across all KPIs.
  • Assist the Regional and Site Management teams in guiding the workforce to complete their daily and weekly tasks safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure that all personnel and external parties consistently adhere to the company's Health and Safety protocols. Participate in safety meetings and report on key trends and statistical analyses to enhance the safety culture.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with operational teams, fostering a safety culture that enhances operational safety practices, training, and site safety management.
  • Plan and coordinate the effective use of resources to implement key safety initiatives across the region, including but not limited to safety onboarding and site safety management.
  • Assist in maintaining comprehensive records and systems for the safe and compliant operation of the region.
  • Develop additional operational support services for the region.
  • Identify opportunities for ongoing safety enhancements within the division and support the Senior Management Team in executing these improvements.
  • Perform any other reasonable job-related tasks as required by the company.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications:

  • IOSH certification
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Experience in Safety and Compliance Management within a fast-paced, heavily regulated environment.
  • Comprehensive people management skills, including recruitment, staff development, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Current knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Procedures.
  • Exceptional communication skills across all levels (clients, head office, supervisors, and teams), both verbal and written, with proficient IT usage. Encourage and act on feedback.
  • Strong administrative skills for workload planning, scheduling, timesheets, and financial documentation.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities.
  • Capability to work independently while managing contract budgets and resources in the best interests of the company.

Desirable qualifications:

  • COTC certification
  • NEBOSH Diploma
  • Prior experience in the resource or waste management sector, including permitting.
  • Experience in hazardous work environments.
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce.
  • Familiarity with audit and inspection processes.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies.
  • Understanding of environmental compliance.
