Health and Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our Corporate Health and Safety Department at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with staff at all levels to promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with legislation and Health Board policies.
- Provide specialist advice on health and safety issues and develop training strategies to meet legislative requirements.
- Identify key health and safety issues by monitoring trends and analysing data to pinpoint learning outcomes for implementation.
- Develop and implement an audit process for health and safety to monitor and enhance Health and Safety management systems in accordance with HSG (65) across the Health Board.
- Manage service development projects and monitor implementation, defining a strategy for implementation within a broad framework.
- Provide cost-effective advice to implement measures to reduce risks and monitor contract agreements.
- Contribute to the management of resources and identify opportunities to maximise efficiency within given resources.
- Authorised signatory for travel expenditure to ensure use of mileage and time is managed efficiently for the Health & Safety Advisors / Co-ordinators.
- Line manage Health & Safety Advisors / Co-ordinators to include performance appraisal and sickness management, disciplinary and grievance matters and recruitment and retention.

Requirements- Relevant Degree, Management, Clinical Governance (or willing to study for)
- Diploma level health and safety qualification or equivalent in risk management
- Professional registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Teaching qualification or relevant experience
- Management qualification/experience
- Post Graduate Degree, MA/MSc., in relevant field
- Further teaching qualifications, / PGCE / FETC equivalent
- Experience of working in the NHS
