Quantity Surveyor Opportunity

Thorn Baker Construction is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team. As a leading masonry specialist, they require a professional with a proven track record of assisting large and small house builders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project contracts and framework agreements, as well as the ability to prepare accurate project costs using Schedules of Rates and sub-contractor quotes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fully understand project contracts and framework agreements
  • Prepare accurate project costs using Schedules of Rates and sub-contractor quotes
  • Ensure sub-contract and purchase orders are issued accurately and on time
  • Pro-actively monitor and negotiate sub-contract variations
  • Identify and highlight risk and work with the project team to eliminate or reduce it
  • Prepare accurate project Cost Value Reconciliations and report these at staged valuations and final account

Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification HND in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management
  • At least 3 years' relevant experience within the last 8 years
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Detail-oriented and proactive team player, with a positive attitude and practical approach
