Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Power Engineer to play a pivotal role in our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Head of Electronics, you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and testing of motor control units that comply with aerospace standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of inverter and converter power electronics.
  • Define and review technical specifications.
  • Conduct and participate in design reviews.
  • Support the safety case in accordance with ARP4754A/DO254 standards.
  • Design, develop, and validate power electronics for aerospace inverter and converter applications.
  • Simulate and evaluate EMC, power, and thermal models.
  • Oversee schematic capture, PCB layout design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Assess component lifetime, limits, and derating.
  • Guide power electronics verification activities throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assist with EMC testing and the creation of technical documentation.
  • Generate comprehensive internal and external documentation, including designs and analyses.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the electronics and hardware department's technologies and processes.
  • Mentor and lead engineers within the Hardware Team and across the organization.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or substantial relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in the power electronics sector.
  • Strong engineering background in power electronics disciplines.
  • In-depth knowledge of power electronic components (IGBTs, MOSFETs, etc.).
  • Experience designing gate drive circuits for wideband gap devices.
  • Familiarity with electronic component selection and power supply magnetics design.
  • Proficient in modeling and simulating power devices for inverter systems using tools like LTSpice or Matlab/Simulink.
  • Experience in PCB layout and design, preferably with Altium Designer.
  • Ability to perform thorough design analyses.
  • Experience ensuring EMC compliance with relevant standards.
  • Understanding of Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
  • Experience with high voltage and high current systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a solid analytical approach.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
