Job Title: Part Time Teacher of Computer Science

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Part Time Teacher of Computer Science to join our team at Wychwood School. As a Part Time Teacher of Computer Science, you will be responsible for teaching computer science to students and promoting a love and appreciation of the subject as an academic discipline.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in computer science and be able to plan, teach, and evaluate excellent lessons in computer science. You will also be responsible for assessing students and providing feedback to them, in line with the marking, assessment, and feedback policy, which furthers their progress and improves outcomes for them.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach computer science to students and promote a love and appreciation of the subject as an academic discipline.
  • Plan, teach, and evaluate excellent lessons in computer science.
  • Assess students and provide feedback to them, in line with the marking, assessment, and feedback policy.
  • Provide whole school assessment data when required.
  • Adhere to all academic policies and protocols in place.
  • Encourage pupils to monitor their own progress, and take action to make further progress.
  • Ensure that school assessments and examinations are reviewed after each examination session to help pupils identify and eradicate errors in knowledge, practice, or examination technique.
  • Model and encourage the use of a variety of study skills, revision techniques, and learning approaches to maximise a pupil's performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in education, especially in computer science.
  • Report termly to parents in writing, completing them by the published deadlines.
  • Mark and comment on computer science entry papers in a timely and professional manner where appropriate.
  • Organise and lead trips to promote interest in computer science.
  • Liaise with other teachers and progress tutors about the pupils' progress.
Requirements:
  • A strong background in computer science.
  • Ability to plan, teach, and evaluate excellent lessons in computer science.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and contribute to the school's academic and pastoral ethos.
  • Commitment to promoting Wychwood School, Oxford positively by attendance at Open Mornings and Evenings and supporting whole-school, extra-curricular and outreach events.
  • Commitment to keeping children safe in education.
  • Ability to manage time well so that pressure points such as report writing or examinations are managed effectively.
  • Understanding and acting upon the need for timely, accurate communication between staff in school, the SENDCo, the EAL department, and parents so that the pupils receive the highest quality, targeted support where necessary.
