About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) team, you will play a critical role in driving improvements in safety, quality, and productivity across our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a site safety strategy, leading to its successful implementation
  • Manage the health and safety team at the Sortation Centre, ensuring delivery of objectives and supervising staff
  • Engage in collaborative health and safety projects across all operations sites, providing authoritative advice and guidance to stakeholders
  • Review and audit health and safety management arrangements, identifying areas for improvement and implementing mitigations and processes
  • Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for health and safety metrics, providing management information and statistics
  • Support business change through effective change management processes, driving behavioural culture change across a large, complex, multi-shift operation
  • Implement and review company global/EU safety policies, ensuring local HSE requirements are met
About the Team

Our WHS team works closely with managers, associates, and local governments to ensure compliance with Amazon's policies and legal regulations, and that our workplaces are safe. We offer a range of opportunities within the team, from Health and Safety Technicians to Programme Managers.

Requirements
  • Education to a degree level and additional qualifications to an NVQ5/NEBOSH Diploma level
  • Experience managing and leading a team
  • Proficient knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and its application
  • Understanding of UK Environment, Health and Safety legislation
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies
  • Qualifications or experience in the field of sustainability
  • Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
  • Chartered membership of a Human Resources industry body (e.g., IOSH) to support people management
