Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity to join the Facilities team as a Culinary Supervisor at Grange University Hospital.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of a dedicated team responsible for delivering high-quality catering services across the facility. This role involves overseeing daily operations and ensuring that all catering duties are executed efficiently.

We seek a motivated individual who demonstrates initiative, creativity, and the ability to inspire and lead a team effectively.

Working Hours

The position requires availability from 19:00 to 02:00 on a rotating two-week schedule, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

The Culinary Supervisor will undertake various responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Organizing work schedules and resource allocation for team members;
  • Coordinating team efforts to achieve operational objectives;
  • Conducting quality assessments to maintain service standards;
  • Leading the team to meet financial targets while ensuring exceptional service quality;
  • Preparing meals, snacks, salads, and sandwiches for patients, staff, and visitors;
  • Catering to specialized dietary needs as per established menus;
  • Collaborating with nursing staff and dieticians regarding dietary requirements;
  • Supervising catering assistants in food preparation and service;
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and health standards through continuous monitoring.

Qualifications Required

Essential

  • City & Guilds Level 706/1 & 2 certification;
  • Chartered Institute of Environmental Health's Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or Level 3;
  • Strong educational background;
  • Relevant experience in the catering sector;
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable

  • Chartered Institute of Environmental Health's Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated ongoing professional development;
  • Experience working within the NHS;
  • Familiarity with catering services;
  • Understanding of dietary and nutritional needs;
  • Knowledge of HACCP protocols and infection control;
  • Ability to manage information and communication effectively.

Desirable

  • Experience in developing operational schedules;

  • Previous staff management experience.
