About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Radiation Oncology. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and young adults with cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital to coordinate treatment and ensure seamless care for our patients.
  • Act as an expert resource and provide advice to ward and departmental areas, as well as the wider community.
  • Plan and manage your workload and the workload of the service, ensuring that service provision meets the needs of our patients.
  • Triage patient cases referred for Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) to ensure suitability in line with commissioning guidance.
  • Manage the transition of care for paediatric patients between care settings.
  • Contribute to the development of national paediatric radiation oncology pathways through clinical site groups.
  • Assist in the development of relevant protocols within the radiotherapy quality system.
  • Review current paediatric protocols in the Trust and develop new protocols/policies where appropriate.
  • Communicate with patients' referring specialists, GPs, and other community and hospice-based services at regular intervals.
  • Contribute to the clinical governance process, including adverse incident reporting and investigation.
Requirements
  • RSCN/RN Child, degree in nursing studies equivalent or DCR(T) or BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiographer State Registered Therapeutic Radiographer.
  • NMC or HCPC state Registration.
  • Evidence of postgraduate study/education in an area relevant to the role.
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification.
  • Expert experience of Paediatric oncology nursing or therapeutic radiotherapy procedures and pathways.
