Darlington Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is a crucial component of Darlington Borough Council. Our team of Educational Psychologists (EPs) significantly contributes to the assessments of Education, Health, and Care Needs, offering informed recommendations to the Local Authority regarding the specific requirements of children and the educational resources essential for their growth.
Job Summary:
We are in search of skilled and committed Locum Educational Psychologists to become part of our team. This position entails conducting assessments for children and young individuals across Early Years, Primary, and Secondary educational environments in Darlington. The successful candidates will generate statutory psychological advice as part of Education Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, ensuring that children receive suitable outcomes and educational resources.
Key Duties:
- Perform assessments in accordance with professional practice guidelines established by the British Psychological Society, HCPC, and the Association of Educational Psychologists.
- Assess individual needs utilizing various psychological methodologies, integrating feedback from relevant educational professionals, parents, and the child or young person.
- Prepare statutory reports within designated timelines that recommend appropriate outcomes and provisions for each child or young person, following the format agreed upon with the Principal or Senior Educational Psychologist.
- Utilize a statutory report template provided by the Principal or Senior Educational Psychologist, ensuring the submission of reports within one week of the agreed deadline to support quality assurance processes.
- Provide necessary assessment tools and resources for the fulfillment of responsibilities.
- Conduct face-to-face assessments while remaining open to remote psychological evaluations as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Must hold registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Demonstrated evidence of regular professional supervision in practice.
- Enhanced DBS check and completion of Level 1 Children's Safeguarding training within the last two years. Certificates must be available.
- Excellent communication skills and a dedication to collaborative efforts with multidisciplinary teams.
