About the Role

Horsham District Council is seeking a skilled professional to join their Sustainability and Greenspaces department as a Drainage Officer. The successful candidate will work closely with the Parks and Countryside team to undertake regular inspections of watercourses on Council-owned land and identify areas requiring remedial measures.

The role involves providing technical drainage advice on planning applications to ensure that development meets high environmental standards. This includes ensuring that the Council fulfils its duties in relation to Warnham Mill Reservoir, a site of importance for nature conservation.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have a degree in a related subject and technical knowledge of non-engineering solutions to drainage and flooding issues. You will also possess good communication skills, enabling you to explain complex issues to a wide range of audiences, and be able to build positive relationships with partners within and external to the Council.

Organizational skills are essential to manage multiple projects, and a full driver's license with access to a vehicle is required.
