Job Summary:
GSL Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated SENDCo to join our team. As a SENDCo, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the school's Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) policy.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead the SEND Team: Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and coordinate specific provision to support individual pupils with SEND or a disability.
- Provide Guidance and Support: Offer professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents, and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
- Strategic Overview: Have a strategic overview of provision for pupils with SEND or a disability across the school, monitoring and reviewing the quality of provision through the use of agreed methodologies.
- Collaboration and Partnership: Work with early years providers, other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and other external agencies as required.
- Safeguarding and Welfare: Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people, following school policies and the staff code of conduct.
- Leadership and Teaching: Lead the High Needs In School Provision with some teaching responsibility.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education and Training: Be committed to education and raising standards, with previous experience and understanding of teaching in the primary phase.
- SEND Expertise: Have completed NPQ for SENCO and possess a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience in the role of SENDCo.
- Leadership and Communication: Have the knowledge and expertise to build on established processes and systems, with experience of delivering training/leading INSET.
- Observation and Support: Undertake observations of pupils and support teachers with strategies to ensure better outcomes for pupils.
