About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Air Quality Consultant to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As an Air Quality Consultant, you will play a key role in providing expert advice and guidance on air quality and carbon emissions management to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and undertake air quality surveys, analyzing and interpreting data to inform our clients' projects.
  • Produce high-quality air quality, dust, odour, and carbon assessments for a range of infrastructure projects, including transportation, energy, and land development.
  • Identify and develop solutions to mitigate the effects of air pollution and carbon emissions, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive air quality reports and figures, presenting complex data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Contribute to business development activities, providing input on bids and proposals to secure new work for the team.
  • Manage your workload and that of others within defined budgets and programs, ensuring timely delivery of projects.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technical and digital skills, applying innovative approaches to assessment and analysis.
Requirements
  • Higher degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject, such as environmental science, chemistry, or physics.
  • Knowledge of air quality and carbon issues, including relevant policies and standards, such as the UK's Air Quality Strategy.
  • Experience with dispersion modeling and assessment techniques, including the use of software such as AERMOD or CALPUFF.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data using spreadsheet and GIS-based tools, such as Excel and ArcGIS.
  • Proficient in standard IT applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of health and safety risk management principles and practices.
  • A full valid UK driving license and willingness to travel for surveys.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in air quality consultancy or a related field.
  • Experience with statistical analysis packages, such as R or Python, and/or computer programming languages, such as Python or Java.
  • Knowledge of other environmental specialisms, such as noise pollution or water quality.
  • Experience working with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to work unsupervised on site, with minimal supervision.
  • Experience preparing input for bids and business development activities.
