Role Overview
We are in search of a driven systems engineer with significant experience in rolling stock to contribute to an innovative project in this domain. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously across all facets of system engineering, from proposal through to project execution. The successful individual will also provide support for systems within their purview during forthcoming proposals and possess a solid understanding of systems integration.
Your daily responsibilities will encompass:
- Taking full ownership of the timely delivery of all project deliverables for the assigned systems.
- Preparing and presenting your system during design evaluations and meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Playing a key role in system development, collaborating with suppliers, project teams, and engineering to serve as the primary contact for each system.
- Assuming complete responsibility and accountability for the systems under your management.
- Assisting the domain lead with necessary planning and progress tracking to identify tasks.
- Promptly escalating any issues or delays encountered during development to domain leads.
- Defining the architecture of the train system, operational modules, and functionalities in accordance with both external and internal requirements.
- Drafting sub-system specifications and architecture descriptions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, aligned with train-level architecture.
- Ensuring consistency and compatibility among all sub-system specifications.
- Conducting train system FMECA in partnership with other teams.
- Addressing technical open issues.
- Composing train-level test specifications and ensuring that train integration and tuning adhere to company standards.
- Preparing reports at both project and métier levels.
- Occasionally working at heights and beneath the train.
Required Qualifications
Essential:
- Proven experience in Rolling Stock is essential.
- A degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with a comprehension of electrical principles, or a related discipline.
- Experience in systems engineering.
- Familiarity with mechanical engineering related to train systems and integration environments.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.
- Ability to engage with internal stakeholders and suppliers regularly.
- Membership in a relevant professional institution (IMechE or IET) or actively pursuing Chartered Engineer status, along with ongoing professional development.
Desired:
- Understanding of electrical and software systems and their interactions with TCMS.
- Experience within the railway sector.
Additional Information
- Salary/rate – commensurate with experience.
