Long-Term Teachers Ltd is collaborating with a remarkable specialized educational institution in Paignton, catering to students aged 11-16 who have encountered obstacles in traditional educational settings. Each student possesses an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) addressing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. We are currently seeking Learning Support Assistants to become integral members of this outstanding team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Assistance: Provide comprehensive classroom support, including individualized assistance and small group interventions as required.
  • Lesson Support: Collaborate with the teacher in lesson planning, resource collection, and activity organization.
  • Student Safety: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, fostering a secure and nurturing environment.
  • Behavior Management: Effectively manage student behavior and cater to individual needs in accordance with their EHCPs.
  • Curriculum Support: Assist students in engaging with the curriculum, helping them to navigate learning barriers.

About You:

  • Experience: Prior experience working with children in the UK educational system, whether in early years, primary, or secondary settings.
  • SEN Expertise: A solid understanding of special educational needs and effective strategies to support young individuals.
  • Personal Attributes: Resilient, adaptable, diligent, and possessing a good sense of humor.
  • Commitment to Growth: A desire to enhance your knowledge and skills continuously.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adjust to changing circumstances with minimal notice.

This role is ideal for university students, experienced teaching assistants seeking new opportunities, or anyone looking to work around their existing commitments. You will be working term time only, Monday to Friday, typically between the hours of 9am and 3pm (finishing at 2:30pm on Fridays).
