Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to join our team as a Senior Cardiology Simulation Fellow at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a senior clinical fellow, you will be responsible for teaching practical skills to junior trainees in cardiology, with a focus on electrophysiology or coronary intervention.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering a cardiac simulation program for cardiology trainees, including simulation courses and skills training.
  • Supporting pericardiocentesis simulation sessions at two BHRS simulation events per year.
  • Developing, planning, and delivering skills training and simulation courses within the trust, working alongside clinical specialists.
  • Preparing and producing resources and IT materials required to support the aforementioned skills training and simulation courses.
  • Developing simulation teaching packages that reflect current evidence-based practices.
  • Working in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the development of patient-focused, collaborative protocols and practices.
  • Identifying scope for and further developing multi-disciplinary teaching and learning within the trust.
  • Participating as faculty, including debriefer and embedded practitioner, on simulation training days.
  • Acting at all times in accordance with the GMC's standards, codes of conduct, and scope of professional practice.
  • Participating in quality assurance, evaluation, and audit of programs.
  • Assisting in the development and progress of faculty members.
  • Participating in approved research as indicated.
  • Acting independently in operating the simulation manikins and liaising with manufacturers of high-fidelity simulators.
  • Working with industry partners to develop training programs and modules that augment cardiology training, as described in the JRCPTB curriculum.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Senior clinical fellow experience, able to teach practical skills to junior trainees.
  • Competence in both core cardiology and specialist cardiology work, either electrophysiology or coronary intervention.
  • Desirable qualifications include prizes, distinctions, presentation of work at national or international meetings, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and audit work.
Eligibility

The successful candidate will be a cardiology trainee with a NTN, Grade ST6-7+.Personal Attributes
