About the Role

The British Council is seeking a highly skilled Community and Content Manager to join our Alumni UK team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the online community of international UK alumni, developing engaging content, and working closely with colleagues across the British Council global network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Alumni UK online platform, ensuring it is fully functional and meets the needs of our users.
  • Be the first point of contact for enquiries from alumni, providing timely and effective support.
  • Build a vibrant online community by encouraging engagement and collaboration between alumni, and promoting events and content from other programmes.
  • Work closely with the Programme Development Manager to scope out future developments for the alumni platform, including the procurement of a fit-for-purpose collaboration platform.
  • Project manage the introduction of new features and functionality, communicating changes to platform users.
  • Develop and lead a community of practice for alumni platform administrators, providing training and support.
  • Manage the contract with the platform provider, ensuring they meet their commitments.
  • Work closely with the marketing manager to coordinate messaging across the alumni platform, direct marketing, and social media.
  • Develop content for the alumni platform, ensuring consistency and professionalism.
  • Develop a content plan for the alumni platform, working with content producers to deliver it.
  • Be responsible for regular reporting on the alumni platform, utilizing integrated reporting functionality and other available analytics.

Requirements

  • Experience of managing and developing an online community.
  • Experience of creating online content for digital audiences and an understanding of what makes engaging content.
  • Experience of managing suppliers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of project management.
