Position Overview
We are seeking applications for a Clinical Fellow role in Neonatal Medicine at the ST 4+ level, designed to provide extensive tertiary medical experience in a specialized neonatal environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a leading Neonatal Unit, which features 16 intensive/high dependency cots and serves as one of the primary tertiary centers in the regional network. The unit is responsible for the care of approximately 5,500 newborns annually, offering comprehensive medical intensive care and accepting referrals for specialized neonatal conditions.
This role includes participation in a full shift system, ensuring that the postholder is actively engaged in the clinical duties required to support our patient population.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- MB BS (or equivalent)
- Full registration with the GMC
- MRCPCH or equivalent qualifications
- APLS, NLS certifications
Experience
Essential experience includes:
- A minimum of 72 months in paediatrics, including at least 6 months of neonatal experience at ST1-3 level in a tertiary center and 12 months at middle grade in a district general hospital or tertiary unit.
- Proficiency in the technical skills necessary for neonatal care, including history taking and examination capabilities.
Desirable qualifications include:
- At least 12 months of experience within the UK healthcare system.
- Familiarity with UK hospital practices.
- Prior experience in a middle-grade role within a tertiary neonatal unit.
Research and Teaching

Communication and Leadership Skills
