Main Purpose of the Role

As a Laboratory Technician at TRADEBE, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and efficient operation of all activities within the laboratory, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality assurance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine quality control analysis and interpretation to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Authorize the receipt of materials onto site, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
  • Sign off and dispatch materials to customers, guaranteeing they meet the necessary standards.
  • Perform data entry and filing of reports to ensure timely and accurate analytical data is presented to relevant parties.
  • Carry out safety-critical tasks and analysis as per procedure dictates, prioritizing the well-being of yourself and others.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleaning standards within the laboratory, promoting a clean and organized work environment.
  • Liaise and communicate results effectively and efficiently to other departments, fostering a collaborative team spirit.
  • Perform calibrations and QC checks of lab equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Ensure non-conforming materials are communicated effectively, addressing any issues promptly and professionally.
  • Undertake project work to improve laboratory and plant processes, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Promote a high standard of health and safety within the laboratory, adhering to all relevant regulations and procedures.
  • Report near-miss accidents and incidents, contributing to a culture of safety and transparency.
  • Make relevant continuous improvement suggestions to supervisors and management, monitoring equipment performance and suggesting enhancements.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer software, particularly Excel and Word, with knowledge of SAP desirable but not essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a good understanding of analytical chemistry principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of distillation processes and procedures.

Working Hours

The laboratory operates in 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, providing a stable and predictable work schedule.
