Our department is at the forefront of technological advancements, utilizing a comprehensive Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system for both adult and pediatric inpatients, as well as for most outpatient clinics. We also employ robotic dispensing, a prescription tracking system, and electronic discharge processes.
You will play a vital role in executing the Pharmacy Clinical Services strategy, striving for excellence in delivering the highest standards of care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a thorough pharmacy service to the patients of University Hospitals Sussex.
- Collaborate with the clinical pharmacy team to provide a medicines optimization service across various wards.
- Participate in the pharmacy team, dedicating time to perform final accuracy checks on prescriptions within the main pharmacy department and at ward-level pharmacy hubs.

Job Duties
- Our technician roles involve rotation through Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency services, engaging in drug history collection, medicines reconciliation, patient counseling, cost improvement initiatives, audit activities, and contributing to the training of nursing and pharmacy personnel. The clinical service also facilitates near-patient dispensing, early patient discharges, and supports initiatives aimed at improving patient flow.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- BTEC LEVEL 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians
- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Qualification in Medicines Optimisation
- Qualification as an Accuracy Checking Technician
Desirable Qualifications:
- Educational Supervisor or equivalent qualification for Medicines Optimisation
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
