Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health team, specifically focusing on the Youth Justice Service (YJS). This position is intended to cover maternity leave.
The Youth Justice Service is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team with statutory responsibilities for young individuals who are at risk of, or have engaged in, criminal activities. The Service is part of a broader Integrated Adolescent Service that delivers assessments and interventions to children, young people, and their families across the borough. The primary aim is to prevent youth involvement in crime and, for those who have already offended, to reduce recidivism by working in partnership with Police, Probation, Youth Courts, Education, Health, and Children’s Services.
We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and experienced registered nurse to provide specialized health and mental health screening, assessment, and intervention for young people facing various vulnerabilities within the Youth Justice Service.
This role is ideal for nurses with experience in addressing the physical and mental health needs of children and young people.
Main Responsibilities
The role requires you to operate autonomously while serving as a support and resource for less experienced colleagues from partner agencies within the YJS. You must possess the following:
- A comprehensive understanding of mental health conditions and emotional wellbeing, along with their management and treatment.
- The ability to manage a caseload of young individuals, ensuring safe and effective clinical practices.
- The capability to assess young people's needs from a holistic perspective, considering both physical and emotional health needs, potential risks, and formulating an appropriate care plan in collaboration with the young person.
- The ability to provide timely interventions to assist young people in managing their health needs.
Working for Our Organization
Probationary Period
This position will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from this period unless they are currently partway through a probationary period or are bank staff.
High-Cost Area Supplement
This position also attracts a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436) pro rata for part-time staff.
Certificates of Sponsorship
Although we are a registered sponsor organization, we are unable to offer sponsorship for all job roles. Please check your eligibility under the UKVI points-based system.
Use of AI
Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programs are used, the application may be rejected due to the importance of this document in the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants from seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.
