Job Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Game Designer to contribute to the development of a AAA narrative adventure game in Unreal Engine 5. As a seasoned designer, you will be responsible for prototyping, documenting, and implementing key gameplay systems and content from concept to delivery.
This role involves hands-on prototyping and implementation of feature prototypes and ongoing work within UE5. You will also serve as a key representative for cross-team communication and feature quality, collaborating with other teams through documentation, direct cooperation, and review.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to make significant contributions to gameplay and supporting systems and see the game through launch.
We welcome applicants who can work collaboratively with our team and are based in the UK, with a preference for 1-3 days per week in the studio. However, we may consider remote working arrangements for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:- Work with the Design team to specify features, systems, and content needed to deliver the game vision and improve it.
- Prototype using Blueprint, Sequencer, Animation Blueprints, and other Unreal tools.
- Design and iterate on prototypes to develop features and ensure they match the creative vision.
- Document and communicate prototype findings and feature goals to cross-discipline feature teams.
- Work with a feature from concept to completion, then through iteration and tuning.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work that fits the game direction and vision.
- Deep knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprint and Sequencer.
- Professional game development experience in gameplay design.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A creative yet pragmatic approach to solving problems and improving quality.
- Able to take direction and critique with a focus on improving quality.
- Dedication to delivering an exceptional player experience.
- A background demonstrating technical and communication skills.
- Proactive identification and raising of upcoming issues.
- Working knowledge of Agile development.
- Good knowledge of industry-standard packages (MS Office, Jira, Perforce, etc.).
- Knowledge of Animation Blueprints.
- Experience with cameras, characters, and controls.
- A passion for cinematic gameplay.
- Experience of at least one product cycle – Conception to Completion and Launch.
