Workplace Overview: Nestled within 2 acres of serene wooded gardens, this privately owned, family-operated hotel boasts breathtaking views of Borrowdale Valley. The establishment specializes in traditional British cuisine and locally sourced Lakeland produce, including lamb, game, and fish. Guests can indulge in an extensive wine selection and enjoy afternoon tea in the inviting lounge by the open fire.

Main Responsibilities:

Chef Duties:

  • Maintain optimal conditions for all stock.
  • Ensure timely preparation of all mise-en-place.
  • Prepare dishes according to established recipes and quantities.
  • Present dishes correctly garnished and in prescribed serving dishes.
  • Keep the kitchen section clean and organized at all times.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior cooks and trainees.
  • Communicate any anticipated shortages to the sous chef or head chef promptly.
  • Maintain a professional environment, free from horseplay.
  • Assume responsibility in the absence of the sous chef.
  • Participate in training courses and seminars as required.
  • Pursue management studies for future career advancement.

Housekeeping Duties:

  • Maintain cleanliness in all public areas, including the hotel, bar, and restaurants.
  • Ensure all rooms are cleaned to a high standard and report any issues to the relevant department.
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve exceptional guest satisfaction.

Essential Qualifications: A willingness and eagerness to learn; NVQs or equivalent qualifications are advantageous.
