London, Greater London, United Kingdom Barbican Full time
About Us

The Barbican is a pioneering Arts and Learning Centre that fosters innovative collaborations across music, theatre, dance, visual arts, and cinema, enriching diverse audiences through artistic experiences.

We strive to be a 21st-century international Arts Centre that champions equity, diversity, and inclusion, and explores new approaches to arts, education, and enterprise.

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive fundraiser to join the Barbican's Development team. The Senior Philanthropy Manager will build and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, working across a broad portfolio of donors, prospective donors, Trustees, and senior Barbican staff.

This role will make a significant contribution to the Barbican's ambitious income targets, focusing on five and six-figure gifts.

A key aspect of the role is to shape the major donor strategy and deliver it successfully in collaboration with the Head of Philanthropy and Director of Development.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing relationships with donors, soliciting gifts personally, and supporting senior stakeholders to be effective fundraisers.

An ability to work strategically and deliver against targets is essential, alongside a natural and engaging approach to relationship building.

Experience working in a cultural organisation will be beneficial, though not essential if a keen awareness for philanthropy in the arts can be demonstrated.

Key Attributes
The ideal candidate will possess a strong alignment with our organisational values (Inclusive, Connected, Daring, Sustainable, and Joyful), a positive and solutions-driven approach, a strong 'growth mind-set', and the ability to work flexibly and take on challenges typical of a fast-moving organisation.
