Senior Civil/Geotechnical Design Engineer - Mine Waste

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil/Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our Mine Waste team in London, UK. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality geotechnical designs and solutions for mine waste management projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering, with a minimum of eight years' experience in the mining industry, particularly in mine waste management. You will be responsible for reviewing project information, developing design bases, and performing geotechnical analysis and designs. Additionally, you will provide technical review of study reports, drawings, and technical specifications, and direct field work programs associated with geotechnical site investigations.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is adaptable and able to fit in comfortably within a thriving, dynamic team at a senior level. The role will involve international projects, offering many opportunities for overseas travel. The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum degree level in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related subject, preferably with a Masters level or above qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics, or a related subject.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project information to develop a design basis from source data
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and designs of excavations, embankments, earthworks, dams, foundations, or impoundments
  • Provide technical review of study reports, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Direct field work programs associated with geotechnical site investigations
  • Interpret data from geotechnical site investigations and laboratory testing
  • Mentor and develop less experienced staff
  • Lead and demonstrate responsible project management leadership
  • Become the client liaison in all matters related to the project
