Job Description

M4 Recruitment - Contracts is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class 2 Refuse Driver to join our team in Bristol. As a key member of our waste management team, you will be responsible for operating a range of vehicles and equipment to collect and dispose of waste in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive and operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and legal requirements.
  • Ensure route completion and tasks are completed to the company's required standards.
  • Tipping of vehicle at designated and approved refuse facility and to load and unload waste materials in accordance with the company's policy, procedures, training, and legal requirements.
  • Use mobile IT equipment and complete daily paperwork as appropriate.
  • Undertake any training/instruction required to carry out these duties and deemed necessary to fulfill the role.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles and equipment to a high standard, including daily vehicle checks on any vehicle driven.
  • Deal with colleagues, customers, and other external personnel in a polite, responsible, and professional manner.
  • Remain in contact with supervisors and office staff, be responsive to operational needs, and aid commercial growth through close relationships with sales staff and reporting back any opportunities for growth.
  • Work flexibly between locations to provide operational cover across the services of Commercial, Garden Waste, Refuse, and Recycling, and to carry out all other tasks deemed reasonable.
  • Comply with all company reporting procedures.
Requirements:
  • Must hold an LGV Cat C (HGV2) license and CPC and Digital Drivers Card.
  • Experience or ability to undertake regular vehicle checks, including oil, water, and battery levels.
  • Experience or ability to demonstrate suitability for physical work involving pushing/pulling waste bins and lifting recycling boxes up to 25kg.
  • The ability to understand and complete daily defect sheets.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and to use own initiative.
  • The ability to work well within a small team.
  • The ability to use IT systems.
  • Demonstrable flexible approach to work assignments.
Special Requirements:
  • May be required to work at other company locations.
  • May be required to work a number of bank holidays and Saturdays after the bank holidays.
  • Expected to work reasonable overtime in line with the needs of the service, which may include a Saturday morning on a rota basis.
  • To work in all weathers.
  • Drive daily for up to nine hours per day, taking official breaks following the working time directive.
