Job Overview

The Building Safety and Compliance Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of Barts Health NHS Trust's buildings and facilities. This position will be responsible for identifying, recording, and evaluating risks associated with non-compliance with statutory legislation, as well as implementing maintenance regimes to minimize the Trust's exposure to those risks.

Main Responsibilities
  • Interpretation of Legislative Changes: The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting current and new legislative changes, including the development of technical and health and safety policies and procedures within the estates environment.
  • External Assessments: The Building Safety and Compliance Coordinator will facilitate and coordinate the work necessary for external assessments by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and other external bodies, such as the CQC/NHS England, and make annual submissions on evidence-based documentation.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Management of Asbestos in Buildings (BOHS P405)
  • Management of Water Hygiene / Safe Water Systems
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (Certificate) or Equivalent Experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC Mechanical & Electrical Installations
Key Skills and Qualities
  • Extensive Experience of Hospitals or Other Building-Related Services Plant & Equipment Maintenance
  • Good Understanding of Health and Safety Legislation Related to Building Equipment and Services (Mechanical and Electrical Services)
Desirable Criteria
  • Proficient at DATIX and PowerPoint Software
  • Experience of Initiating, Conducting, and Evaluating Risk Assessments
