About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our team at CareTech Group. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing guidance, support, and encouragement to young people in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide physical and emotional support to young people in residential settings, including classrooms and off-site activities.
  • Enable young people to develop by providing guidance and encouragement.
  • Work as part of a team to maintain a stable, happy, and caring environment that prioritizes the health, safety, and welfare of young people.
  • Be a good role model and conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Act as a mentor to Support Workers.
  • Build positive professional relationships with young people and other staff members.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for young people and staff.
  • Know and actively promote young people's specific needs and help meet those needs in the most appropriate way.
  • Assist young people with medical and welfare needs and report as required.
  • Administer medication to residents and contribute to the medical audit process.
  • Monitor young people's condition and contribute to record keeping.
  • Help young people maintain personal cleanliness, hygiene, and appearance.
  • Keep up to date with and promote various communication and information systems.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • Be an effective Keyworker/Personal Tutor for young people.
  • Support young people in managing their behavior using approved approaches.
  • Promote equality and challenge discriminatory practices.
  • Safeguard young people from abuse and report any incidents.
  • Write accurate and comprehensive reports for reviews and keep records for monitoring purposes.
  • Take primary responsibility for a specific area of service development or project.
  • Attend training and achieve qualifications as required.
  • Actively promote and develop learning in programs and activities.
  • Attend work reliably and punctually and follow a work pattern as required.
  • Support young people during transfers to other residential settings.
  • Keep up to date with procedures and policy changes and disseminate information to team members.
  • Be prepared to drive a minibus if required.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.
  • Have knowledge of relevant standards and their implementation in the care setting.
  • Attend review meetings with young people and act as an advocate where required.
  • Be involved in planning, preparation, supervision, and review of routines and activities.
  • Take responsibility for completing activity planners and sign-in/out books.
  • Give constructive feedback to Support Workers and act as a mentor.
  • Notify management of matters relevant to young people's well-being.
  • Lead shifts and carry out debriefs as required.
