Job Title: Multi Skilled Operative

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Multi Skilled Operative. As a key member of our operational team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant, delivering high-quality materials to our customers, and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Operate mobile plant equipment, including rigid and articulated dump trucks and loading shovels, to ensure efficient and safe material handling.
  • Assist in meeting daily and weekly production targets by working collaboratively with the team to optimize plant performance.
  • Ensure plant safety and environmental compliance by following established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment and implement remedial action as necessary to maintain optimal performance.
  • Assist in the maintenance regime of the plant to ensure maximum availability.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping around the site to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working in a similar aggregates environment or industrial setting as an operative or labourer.
  • Good communication skills and a desire to develop both operative and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of the industry, plant, and quarrying operations.
  • Previous experience in mobile plant operations is preferred.
  • Flexibility and ability to work as part of an effective multi-skilled operative team.
  • Self-motivation and ability to motivate other colleagues in the team.
  • Knowledge of risk assessments and SSOW (HIRA) and permit systems is preferred but not essential.
  • Compliance with company policies, targets, goals, and standards.
  • Good timekeeping and flexibility to meet the needs of the unit.
  • Good communication skills and ability to bring problems to the attention of line management.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • IT literacy.
  • Shovel/ADT/excavator experience is preferred.
  • Shovel license and mobile plant tickets are desirable but not essential.
