Project Overview: Mozambique LNG

The Mozambique LNG project involves the development of a subsea gas field extending 1,400 meters to shore, situated in the northern region of Mozambique near the Tanzania border.

The scope of shallow water and dredging work includes the installation of three trunklines, two MEG lines, and two umbilicals, all of which will come ashore through a pre-dredged trench measuring approximately 17 kilometers in length.

The Landfall Operations Engineer will report directly to the Afungi Upstream Installation/Construction Manager and will be responsible for overseeing contractor activities related to landfall operations. This includes the setup and operation of the pull-in winch and associated tasks. The role also encompasses the installation and trenching of a section of pipeline, as well as the construction of beach valve stations and their corresponding concrete foundations, which are integral to the pre-commissioning phase of the project.

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage activities at the Landfall Works site throughout all project phases.
  • Ensure the safe, timely, and budget-compliant execution of all elements related to the Landfall Works within the EPCI scope, maintaining a high quality aligned with a 30-year project design life.
  • Monitor and oversee all aspects of the Landfall Works to ensure adherence to schedule, budget, technical specifications, quality standards, and HSES requirements.
  • Implement a comprehensive readiness process to facilitate effective preparation by both contractors and the company for the commencement of site activities, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Promptly communicate significant project threats to the Afungi Upstream Installation/Construction Manager, along with proposed mitigation strategies and work plans.
  • Provide regular reporting to all stakeholders regarding Landfall Work activities.
  • Ensure readiness reviews and equipment inspections are conducted, with timely closure of any identified issues.
  • Guarantee that all Landfall Work activities comply with project technical requirements and are fit for purpose.
  • Identify and resolve detailed interface challenges in collaboration with other managers and senior discipline engineers in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the offshore construction sector, particularly in landfalls and land pipelines.
  • Proven experience in managing on-site contractors effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive working relationships with contractors and their personnel, facilitating collaborative problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills to represent the project professionally to third parties and stakeholders.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification is required, with a preference for geotechnical, civil, or mechanical engineering disciplines.
